Historical Background
Snake was born as a result of the Les Enfants Terribles project, which was an attempt to create the perfect solider by cloning the "Greatest Warrior of the 20th Century", Big Boss. The minds behind the project did not wish for a truly identical clone however, instead desiring a phenotype in which all the 'superior' genes were expressed. So it was that Solid and Liquid Snake were created, one expressing all of Big Boss' dominant genes, the other all of Big Boss' recessive genes... two sides of the same genetic coin. Solidus Snake on the other hand, the third brother eventually born of the project, was a "well balanced masterpiece", having been manipulated in such a way that he expressed both dominant and recessive genes in equal measure.
During the Shadow Moses Island incident, Liquid Snake was under the impression that he was the inferior, having been granted the supposedly "flawed" recessive genes, whilst his brother recieved the "superior" dominant genes. Hence his resentment towards Solid Snake during their confrontation and his believing himself to be "Garbage from the day (he) was born", the leftovers of what they had used to create his brother, "the Legend", Solid Snake. In truth however, it was Solid Snake who was the genetic "inferior" spawned by the project, whether by accident or design.
Yet in spite of his supposed genetic shortcomings, it was Solid Snake who battled and defeated both Big Boss and Liquid, proving once and for all that genes do not dictate one's fate.
Fighting Style
-Snake is very different from the other characters in Brawl. His attacks are
unconventional, and it's hard to play him like you would Link or Fox. At close
range, Snake has fast, powerful attacks; at range, he has several explosive
accessories to keep his enemies from ever getting too comfortable. At first,
Snake seems to be a gimmicky fighter with situational attacks and no real
fighting potential, but Snake's capabilities are amazing but only if used in the
right hands.
-YOU ARE NOT SAFE. Snake is a godly combination of projectiles and melee,
allowing him to dish out damage (and often times KOs) from anywhere on stage.
-Snake is fast, powerful, and has a large variety of attacks, and a player who
is able to use all of them effectively can destroy. Snake is also one of the
heavier characters, giving him higher knockback resistance in addition to his
excellent recovery.
Moveset
Neutral Combo - Punch-Punch-KICK!
---------------------------------
Button: A + A + A
Stick: Neutral
Damage: 4% + 3% + 7%
KO Percent: 85%
Description: Snake's favorite knock-out combo. It has moderate range and pretty
fast speed; the final hit has great knockback and KO potential, and also hits a
little behind Snake as well. Smaller enemies such as Pikachu can be more
difficult to hit with the first couple of punches due to their height.
Dash Attack - Roll
---------------------------------
Button: A (while dashing)
Stick: Dashing
Damage: 8-11%
KO Percent: 160%
Description: Snake dives for cover! This dash attack is quick and hits quite
good. It's hard to dodge, and it's good for clearing multiple enemies out of
Snake's path. Use often.
Ledge Attack
---------------------------------
Button: A (while hanging)
Stick: Neutral
Damage: 6-8%
KO Percent: Not viable
Description: Snake kicks in a way similar to his D-Tilt, though it's less
powerful. Useful when an enemy is edgeguarding while Snake is recovering.
Recovery Attack
---------------------------------
Button: A (while knocked down)
Stick: Neutral
Damage: 6%
KO Percent: Not viable
Description: Snake kicks outwards as he gets up. Basically only useful for
getting up, which is what it's for.

( Tilts )
````````````
Tilts are between neutral attacks and smashes. A tilt is performed when the
stick is first tilted in a direction, and then the A button is pressed after
the stick is tilted. Think of it as a two step process.
Forward Tilt - Knee-Punch (F-Tilt)
---------------------------------
Button: A + A
Stick: Tilted
Damage: 8% + 12%
KO Percent: 80%
Description: A two-hit combo, Snake strikes viciously with his knee and follows
it up with a downward punch. This attack has good range and GREAT power and
knockback. Very KO capable, and did I mention is just as fast as his neutral
combo? Use for amazing results.
Down Tilt - Sweeping Kick (D-Tilt)
---------------------------------
Button: A
Stick: Tilted
Damage: 10%
KO Percent: 140% (on Final Destination)
Description: Snake does a sweeping kick, hitting anyone in front of him. Very
fast and has good range; the damage and knockback are good.
Up Tilt - Snake's Straight-Up Kick (U-Tilt)
---------------------------------
Button: A
Stick: Tilted
Damage: 12-13%
KO Percent: 90%
Description: Snake sends his foot skyward, hitting anything in its path towards
the heavens. This tilt hits in front of and above Snake; the hitbox is much
larger than the animation, and it's great for hitting enemies upward. Great KO
potential, and like his other tilts, is very fast.
It's also the coolest kick ever.
( Smashes )
``````````````
Like his other unique sets of moves, Snake's smashes are very different from
the standard Brawler's. They introduce more possibilities and variety. To
perform a smash attack, tap the control stick in a direction and press the A
button at the same time; holding the buttons causes the smash attack to be
charged up for more power. The C-stick is assigned for instant smashes by
default.
Forward Smash - Rocket Launcher (F-Smash)
---------------------------------
Button: A
Stick: Smashed
Damage: 22% (30% charged)
KO Percent: 30% (20% charged)
Description: Snake fires a rocket launcher at the ground in front of him. This
move is very slow, but can KO at low percents. Unlike other characters, you
won't use Snake's forward smash very much, as it's too slow to use in normal
combat. But whenever the opportunity arises, this attack can KO very easily.
Down Smash - Land Mine (D-Smash)
---------------------------------
Button: A
Stick: Smashed
Damage: 14% (20% charged)
KO Percent: 125% (90% charged)
Description: Snake plants a land mine in the ground. This is not your everyday
smash attack; this is much more a utility move. These land mines function much
like the proximite mine items; they explode on the first thing to step on the
mine. This includes items and Snake. The mine itself does great damage and can
KO at higher percents.
Up Smash - Mortar (U-Smash)
---------------------------------
Button: A
Stick: Smashed
Damage: 4% + 10%
KO Percent: 100%
Description: Snake whips out his mortar and fires it straight up. This is yet
another strange smash attack that seems like it would be a special ability.
The mortar hits on deployment in addition to the exploding projectile. The
smash can be charged to increase the height that the mortar flies to, but not
its damage. This attack has great range, making it relatively easy to KO an
enemy in the air while remaining on the ground.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
( Aerials )
``````````````
Snake's aerial attacks are pretty varied. He has a couple quick ones, a slow
one, and two multi-hitters. They all deal good damage and are good for juggling
or piling damage.
Neutral Aerial - 4 Kick Combo (N-Air)
---------------------------------
Button: A (in the air)
Stick: Neutral
Damage: 6% + 5% + 4% + 13%
KO Percent: 80%
Description: Snake does a series of four kicks, dealing great damage and some
good knockback on the final kick. It's easiest to use this when opponents are
on platforms above Snake. The move is cancelled when Snake hits the ground,
and due to this, Snake can't get the 4th kick in a short hop.
Forward Aerial - Spike Kick (F-Air)
---------------------------------
Button: A (in the air)
Stick: Forward
Damage: 14-15%
KO Percent: 85%
Description: Snake lifts his foot then spikes it downwards, smashing opponents.
This kick makes a good edgeguarding move, as you can smash opponents straight
downward while they're trying to recover, even at 0%. This move can also send
enemies flying upwards depending on where it hits; this can also KO at higher
percents. Can also be used as a recovery move.
Back Aerial - Dropkick (B-Air)
---------------------------------
Button: A (in the air)
Stick: Back
Damage: 14%
KO Percent: 80%
Description: Snake quickly lays out, kicking behind him. This is a powerful hit
with good knockback and great speed. Amazing priority, and thus a great move
for edgeguarding (will even hit Luigi in a full Green Missile). B-Air is also
a great approach move when combined with fast fall. I use it plenty.
Up Aerial - Inverted Dropkick (U-Air)
---------------------------------
Button: A (in the air)
Stick: Up
Damage: 14%
KO Percent: 80%
Description: This is just like Snake's back aerial, except up. It has about the
same power and speed, and can also be used to juggle and KO opponents upwards.
Though it's usage is limited due to Snake's jumping ability.
Down Aerial - 4 Stomp Combo (D-Air)
---------------------------------
Button: A (in the air)
Stick: Down
Damage: 5-6% + 5% + 5% + 12%
KO Percent: 80%
Description: Snake stomps downwards on his foes, dealing great damage and
knocking back on the last hit. This attack is hard to land on smaller fighters,
but can do some serious damage and KO. This move can be used the same way as
Snake's N-Air, though aimed differently.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,
( Throws )
`````````````
Snake has a quick, close-range grab that should be used often. Attacking and
throwing are good ways to add some damage onto your opponents. Anticipate the
enemy to grab them, giving you some guaranteed hits, and the enemy will get
annoyed with you when you're good at it.
Grab Attack - Choke
---------------------------------
Button: A (while grabbing)
Stick: Neutral
Damage: 2%
Description: Snake quickly chokes or wrenches the victim in his clutches.
Perhaps a little strange, but good for adding damage.
Forward Throw
---------------------------------
Button: None
Stick: Foward (while grabbing)
Damage: 9%
KO Percent: 125%
Description: Snake launches the opponent fowards. The victim goes far, and this
throw can KO at higher percents.
Backward Throw
---------------------------------
Button: None
Stick: Back (while grabbing)
Damage: 9%
KO Percent: 125%
Description: Snake throws the enemy backwards. This throw is similar to the
forward throw, and has the same KO potential.
Up Throw
---------------------------------
Button: None
Stick: Up (while grabbing)
Damage: 10%
KO Percent: 200%
Description: Snake slams the enemy on the ground, who is sent flying upwards.
This throw is great for getting enemies in the air to juggle.
Down Throw - The Sleeper
---------------------------------
Button: None
Stick: Down (while grabbing)
Damage: 12%
Description: Snake gently lays the victim on the ground. Does even more damage
than the other throws, even though it seems like it would do no damage at all.
This move is great, as opponents usually roll, and you can anticipate the roll
and grab them again; Shield-Grab works well for when a recovery attack is used,
but it's harder to predict. This is the best throw ever.
